Hi friends,I had my GD PI at CUSAT on June 3 2013.

Please find the process below

1.Document verification-You just need to bring CMAT Admit card and score card for this.Marksheet not needed.

2.Profile page:You will be asked to fill the profile sheet given by them.Some of the questions in the sheet were

• Strengths and weakness
• Areas in reading and Books
• Why MBA
• Hobbies
• Extra curricular activities/achievements/Social contribution
• Places visited outside India

Please be prepared with this answers as they will be putting marks based on our answer.

3.GD-A topic will be given and each of them has to speak about the topic for 1 min.They have to write the same in a paper as it will also be evaluated.After the real discussion starts which was be around 10 minutes in my case.After that we will be asked to write the summary of the GD in a paper.

GD Topics:My topic for the day was "Cricket is spoiling other forms of sports"

4.Interview:Some of the questions asked in interview were

 Tell about yourself,why MBA,Why CUSAT,what is derivatives(i was working on derivatives),what is islamic banking etc.Basically the working people will be asked about work related questions and others they will grill you with academic questions!

 to start with i first had essay writing, essay topic was "should sport bodies be allowed to be headed by poltical leaders?" we get 15 minutes to write and max 200 words.... then i had gd, my gd topic was " can business be ethical?" 5 mins to jot down your points, 15 mins for discussion and 30 sec each to summarise.. my gd went ok types.

for pi i had panel one, dean himself and prof bhatia, prof bhatia is considered to be the god of finance by seniors. dean is very nice, and i heard proff. bhatia asks completely technical ques, luckily in my time he had to leave for some work. the dean asked me about capital budgeting and seriously if you dont know the ans, tell you dont know, he would explain you..

hi guys to starting with my pi i ad two biggest faculty of finance prof bhatia n dean himself.. lucky me hardly any technical stuff it was nice on the whole... if u do not know say don kno sir explains beautifully...

then i had my document verificatn and then essay topic was- should college consider only cmat scores for mms admission? then my gd topic was- primary educatn-backbone of indian education? gd was smooth went for exact 14 mins.. on the whole noce experience

 gd topic-shld india adopt 1 child policy? it was fish market..got 1 warning also from panelists..interview was easy with general questions on fmly,hobbies nd all..very little finance questions asked..nd essay was "shld sports bodies be headed by political parties?"

Hey guys..finally done with the GD/PI

1) we had to get our doucments verified which hardly took 5 minutes

2 ) In essay writting 15 mins were given ,topic -the impact of electronic media on the psyche of indian youth

3) for GD there were 12 candidates and the topic was FDI retail in India- a boon or bane,the topic was quite gud but 12 candidates and 12 mins to speak it was bcoming a fish market ,for such a big group i think more time shud hav been given for discussion and in the end every one was given 30 secs to summarize

4 ) PI-this was a bit dreadful ...Since i had IT experience i was asked difference between Struts & hibernate,serialisation etc , hobbies and then since i had told i wanted to do MBA in finance i was asked y finance, interest coverage ratio,treynor's ratio , BASEL III  so PI was quite grilling  nw lets see wat happens and yeah results will be out on June 18th ,2pm

Dalmia Experience 4th June

GD topic : In the age of Google Maps and such other social websites is a ban on photography in places of historical, religious importance and security infrastructure RELEVANT (14 students in batch, 5 min to note points, 20+ minutes, each person was asked to summarize and was given 30 seconds to do so)

essay: Journey in 2nd Class of local train during peak hours (200 words, 15mins)

Pi - I am frm Commerce background.. so was asked to write down items in balance sheet as per schedule VI of Cos. Act, Some questions on ratios, why dalmia 

Overall good experience, It was well managed, didn't have to wait for long

hey wassap .. i must say Dalmia well done with crowed management......... our buddies were very helpful awzm infra yar .......................! oohk to strt with had a morning slot 10am got to reach by 9 am 1) Essay (My Criteria to rank Management college ) 2 ) Document verifications n all that 3) GD (Should government improve the minimum age limit for marriages in India) Healthy discussion , at time even fish market but good over all every 1 had to memories for 30 secs 4) PI a lot on my past company future plans ? Y MBA in marketing ? How will you be useful to the college? & P's of marketing & BCG Matrix and its x & Y axis , also they tried convincing me to go for HR instead of marketing

Hi all,

Had GDPI today at 2 pm slot, GD was ok ok, PI was great, was asked very few questions answered them correctly, Had got Panel 1 consisting of Director Prof. Pyarelal Arya and HOD Finance Prof. Bhatia, Essay topic was "Journey by local train in 2nd class during peak hours"  that went fine as well

Overall Good experience  nt good experience with snacks though

GDPI Experiences-8th JUne 10 am
First of all thanx a lot for all the frnds who had posted their GDPI experiences!It helped a lot in preparing for my GDPI

The process was the same as told by other people in dis group

I had GD first,followed by DV,PI and essay writing

GD had 14 participants with 15 minutes for the discussion and 30 sec each for summarising the GD.

Topic was:Old is not gold!

The GD was smooth with no fish market and i was the one to initiate the topic :)

DV was smoooth but had to wait for some time for others D to get over.

PI was the coolest one for me...As i had work experiences,they asked(i drived them to ask:-P) about derivatives which i was working on..i explained well..thn they asked why rupees is deprecating,what is CAD? i explained the answer...then they asked whthr u r taking dalmia rite now..if i am going to give admission nw itself :-P,i said yes!!

Essay writin topic was:My college days and it went smooth..only problm was the time wasnt enuf to xplain all!

Overal dalmia GDPI experience was very good and i am hoping ositive results on June 18th :)

In PI I was asked .. Why HR ? Why not marketing ? Why HR at dalmia ? Where else have you applied ? Calls from any colleges? Difference between empathy and sympathy. Name a few theories of HR. Explain maslow's hierarchy of needs in detail with examples . Name the three theory of needs given by Mc clelland .. What is name of the theory given by Mc Gregor ? Where do you see yourself 5 years down the line ? What aspect of HR you like the most?

PI - a lady nd old professor.started with acads..then y finance...they said bout finance sector is down so told them bout lomg term...nd discussed all bout greece nd eurozone...so they asked bout PIGS..actually i drived it toward that..it was good try..nd then bout RBI FUNCTION nd its governer..told both well..then they asked to tell 1 Nationlised bank, 1 private bank nd 1 foriegn bank in india..replied correctly..though dat was easiest evr....then a sum related to compound interest in d end...it was a nice experience....nd in d end volunteers wer too supportive!!

the female was very nice ... the male was like too much
they started off wid case study .. like in a chemical company there is an engineer who is a chain smoker he smokes in the premises of a company , he has been given repeted warnings the othrs wid him who were working in the same co who were found smoking were sacked wht would you have done in this case being an Hr manager ??/
what are the indoor and outdoor games you like to play?
den the lady started what are the components seen in the salary slip?
as i had an work ex she asked me under which tax slab do you fall??
what are the limits of falling in the tax slab mention in general and othrs also wid the rates ??
thats it you can go have a nice day ... overall it was a very nice experince :):):)

GD topic : age bar for drinking 25 and voting is 18 ..why ...( something like that ) 
essay : india can be a super power ( i stuffed so much stats that they will have to google to cross check just like i did in my gd :P )
P.I made 2-3 friends ( volunteers ) and i knew famous ppl from dalmia ( i knew famous people from top 6 colleges so i use that trick everywhere to get my interviewer on a friendly note ) and i knew both the people taking my interview by name and their qualifications and subjects they teach there.
mohite sir : tell me something about urself ?
me : told .. when i was speaking about networking marketing ruchika maam ( marketing woma :P ) took charge .
ruchika maam : tell me about network marketing .. def. and few concepts
me : explained + gave some examples and how i implemented them in real life and how it worked.
both : what were u doing for this one yr 
me : doing few computer courses, studying for cet and other exams and guiding people on forums and all that shit :D
Ruchika maam : what guidance ?
me : about colleges courses and what not blah blah 
ruchika maam : what did u tell them about our college ?
me : told 5 famous personnas from dalmia ( included their name .. that lit their faces and they were smiling ) their events 
ruchika maam : how u know so much about the college ? 
me : i know some 5-10 people from college . ex and present students standing outside .. some of them were quite famous so both of them knew .. like knew where they stay and what they did and they do .. ( after this it was all friendly )
they asked me why marketing ? i was about to answer but they only took on the person ka name and started laughing. and some more things like what does he do now .. how u know him.. his dad and what not crap lol
then maam stopped mohite sir let me ask him sir 
asked me the GDP told the meaning and the rate and everything .
sir asked no tell me the figure 
i told 1.73TN nominal and 4.45 is ppp. they looked at each other and mohite sir was like write it down on a paper for me 1.73 tn
done !
now convert it into rs. 
so i told him an hour back i checked rupee rate was 55.82
sir : take it as 50 and convert
done !
now tell me that amount in lakhs 
done !
ruchika maam interrupted saying ' sir wo marketing wala hai kya aap finance leke baithe hai ! '
*laughter*
they asked about my family , swimming, and then he said u only tell me what should i ask u nw... ok. b.com kiya hai .. commerece and economics se kuch poochu ? haha i was like sir anything took few chapters ka name also and told him ask def. or diff. or formulas but he didnt ask
asked about cet gdpi kidhar hua and then bole itna accha gaye fir bhi KJ wale marks nahi denge terko. and asked kaha kaha fill kiya hai forms and experience there and more casual talks.
then ruchika maam asked tell me those concepts u were talking about 
i explained them the golden circle of life and law of diffusion of innovation in short i doubt they understood lol... but they look impressed.

the other young guy was juss a poster boy whole interview with a stoned expression....!!!!!

Registration. U will allotted a group. Then you will have to list down your schedule.
Gd: should organ donation be compulsory? It was chaotic. Too many ppl spoke simultaneously.
PI: two old men (later I came to know one of them was an IIT IIM A guy). Totally crazy. Asked full engineering stuff. He also asked properties of steam. He then went to VanderWal law n 'moleluar' it's not molecular. Something related to mole.
Overall ok.
Essay writing: why do I want to do MBA? Nice.
Document verification then.
Done in 1.5 hrs.
And yes result is on 18 th June

there were 4 rounds 1)document verification in which original documents were checked 2) essay writing in which 15 min time is given to write d essay nt more than 200 wrds mine topic was "how youth help to create better society "3)gd - 12 candidates in gd 2 female panelist easy discussion mine topic was "credit card are boon or bane" i discussed 4 boon 12 min gd in which last 30 sec were given to candidate to summire d gd.. last was pi it was ok ok mine specialisation was marketing so they asked question abt marketing like wats is market segmetation , plc, step to avoid decline stage in plc, demarketing , my family background, product targeting & positioning and how they r diff from each other wid examples.. they were 2 interviewer 1 female nd 1 male they were good .. process ended u will b gives 80rs coupon were u can eat anything from canteen acc to yr choice.. end

Reached venue at 1.00 PM...they checked the hall ticket and gave gd and pi group...Mine PI batch was 7 and GD group was J....First was my PI... i was the 1st for my batch...2 panelist..One old sir and one young madam(don’t get excited she was not that young )..(sir was a engg + mba..too intelligent as told by the volunteers)..
Me- Good Afternoon Sir, maame...They asked me to sit and the sir started...
Sir- What was ur final ur Project?
Me- told.... then he asked me few question related to my project...technical stuff...
Then Sir asked me few question related to my activities and my ngo...
Then asked few questions on marketing...what r types of marketing and various medium for advertising...etc etc 
Sir- what is need, demand & supply, product differentiation?
Madam- what is PR?
ME- told all bullshit...toh she was like don’t tell me what a PRO does..tell me PR as a Function...
Me- Maame i am still to learn lots of things about marketing so i cannot tell u text book definition of PR...she was like ok ok no problem...
Inshort interview was good ...No GK, No why mba,why marketing,why dalmia..

Then i had essay writing..topic was- Whom would u like to emulate ?
The funny things was most of us wrote about MS Dhoni....

Then had GD at last – only 7 ppl in the group..Topic- Women make better managers then men...
Initiated the GD and had a good discussion...no fish market...
At last went to canteen and enjoyed the food coupons :) (Eat Noodles they are nice)...

PI was one of worst PI's comparatively to other I hav appeard for grilled me completely dey neva got satisfied wid ny of my answers infact d panelists dint even smiled in whole interview for once it was more of lyk stress interview for me.. Even wid oders students whom i communicatd sum very bizarre questns were askd 2 dem so i thnk dey grilling quite a lot of ppl.. so Tips for dose who are yet to appear is jus b prepard dey cn ask u ny damn thng

Pi- kind of grilliing. Panel7. He was engineer, n me too, so lot of technical and logical questns.
